Protracted recording sessions in the Caribbean, a well-publicized divorce, and battles with drug demons may have grabbed the headlines, but Amy Winehouse’s record label has suddenly issued a surprise statement—a new album by the singer will “hopefully” be released next year.
People may have forgotten all about Winehouse’s actual career, but Island Records co-president Darcus Beese is determined to get her back on track. "I've heard a couple of song demos that absolutely floored me." He said. "Hopefully we'll have her album next year."
Beese is under no illusions about the progress Winehouse has been making, saying the album was recorded “in fits and starts.” It’s been three long years since Back to Blackwas released, and Winehouse is making her first public appearance in a while this Saturday (Oct. 10), when she appears on Strictly Come Dancing in the U.K.
